WINTER BREAK IS NEXT WEEK!

HELLO 209 KP FAMILIES,

During Kindergarten KP we have been working very hard on our letter Mm, Nn and coming up, easy O!  The kids have been listing words that begin with these letters, using them them in sentences, and practicing writing.  Last week we focused on dinosaurs.  Dinosaur art, dinosaur stories, etc.  

Last Thursday, we walked to the SLP library and a park afterwards.  It was 19 degrees so the kids were very warm by the time we returned.

1st and 2nd continue to work very hard on homework after school.  Outside fresh air play daily. They create art, play in gym, or computer lab during choice time. They are painting their paper mache balloons.

Jan. 2

Kindergarten, 1st and 2nd choice: Maple Maze or Maple Grove pool 10-12.  Ideal recreation and swimming facility for kindergarteners.  A lot of pool guards and maze employees to keep our kids safe.  swimsuit and towel please.

Bigger kids choice, (and some 2nd graders)  :  Elm Creek Park tubing hill  10-12  This activity is for the older kids.  Super fun snow sliding, ramp pulls them back up hill. Must have all outdoor clothing, waterproof gloves, boots, hats, snow pants, etc.

DAILY INFO:

OPEN:  6:30-6:00

BRING WINTER PLAY CLOTHES

NO TOYS FROM HOME PLEASE

BRING A SWIM SUIT AND TOWEL FOR SWIMMING IN CENTRAL POOL on  12/26 2:00-3:00, 12/30 1:00-2:00, 1/3 2:00-3:00 

"To view the days which you are registered for KP go online to your KP account.  To add Non-School Days, Early Release, or Late Start Days go online to your Kids’ Place account and select ACCOUNT MANAGEMENT. Adds must be requested at least 14 days prior to the date to be able to register online. After that point your request must go through your Kids’ Place teacher and approval is subject to space availability.

To cancel Non-School Days, Early Release or Late Start Days you must contact your Kids’ Place teacher or the Kids’ Place Office at least 14 days prior to the contracted date to not  be billed. Cancellations cannot be processed online. "

Winter Break School Release Days

Winter Break is coming up quick.  We are open Dec 23, 26 & 27. Dec 30, Jan 2 & 3.

Here are the field trips that we have planned:

Dec 23 - The Big Thrill Factory 12:30-3:30. We will get to play on their indoor playground, laser tag, BTF time challenge, bump and spin cars, black light ropes course.


Jan 2 - The children will be able to choose whether they would like to swim at the Maple Grove pool, or play in the Maple Maze indoor playground.


If you have not registered yet, you have until Dec 9th to do so.

Nov 27th School Release Day Schedule

There is no food service on school release days. Please remember to send a lunch.

Your child will have the opportunity to go swimming in the Central Pool - please send a swim suit and towel if your child would like to swim.

12:00-1:30 Your child will have a choice of staying at Central or going to the SLP Rec Center to ice skate at their annual "Turkey Skate". Skate rental is free that day or they may bring their own skates.

We will be playing outdoors. Please send coats, hats, mittens, warm shoes/boots and socks.

SLP library- today

Midday Kindergarten walk to the library was a success today.  It took 15 minutes and their behavior was wonderful.  We checked out a weeks worth of books and read on the floor.  We'll try and go weekly but it also depends on the weather. : )

Brr! ,it's cold outside.

Hey KP 209 Families!
Brr!  It's cold out there.  Only one kid had mittens today.  With the wind it feels like 20 degrees.  The time is now! Dress your kids for outside play!  Rubber boots are not a bad idea, as it is muddy in our room, now. : )  

Monday November 11 is a normal school day

Hi KP 209 Families!
  Just a heads up,, It may be confusing to look at the SLP calendar and see that next Monday is Veterans Day and the city offices are closed.  This does not affect us.
School is open and Kids' Place is running as usual.  Our next release day will be November 27.
We do not have a field trip scheduled for that day.  We will be swimming on that day so bring a suit and towel.
Another reminder to please pack a lunch for all schools release days!

Register for Nov 1 school release day

Nov 1st is a school release day. It was missing from the online registration form. It is on there now. Please go in and register now if you need child are for Friday Nov. 1
The deadline for registration is this Friday, Oct. 18

All of Kids' Place will be going to Rollergardens from around 8:45-12:30. Roller skates will be provides or your child may bring their own. If your child would like to rent rollerblades the cost is $3.00. Your child may bring money to play arcade games or buy a snack at the concession stand.

Fun Events Around Town in October

Oct 12 & 13 - 12:30-4:30  Ride the Trolley at Lake Harriet and pick up a pumpkin at the end of the line. Pumpkins are $3.00 + the regular fare to ride the trolley. No advance tickets.

Oct 18 & 19 - 32nd annual halloween party at Westwood Nature Center. The creatures at Westwood Hills Nature Center have nature games, refreshments and special activities waiting for you and your family. Pre-registration required. SLP Park and Rec.

Oct 25 - 6:30-8:00 Little Goblin Bash and Pumpkin Hunt
Come in your costume and boo-gie down! The banquet room will be turned into Halloween central with fun music and Halloween treats supplied by Byerly’s. All registered participants will get to pick out a pumpkin from our Wolfe Park Pumpkin Patch! Volunteers welcome. After the event, enjoy free ice skating and free skate rental until 9 p.m. Pre-registration required. Walk-in registrations not allowed. SLP Park and Rec.

Swimming Sept 27

The 1st and 2nd graders will have an opportunity to swim in the Central pool Friday afternoon. If your child would like to swim please send a swimsuit and towel.

Early Release Days Friday Sept 27 update

Sorry parents. I just found out that our new system will not let anyone register online if it is within 14 days of the event. So the online registration is closed for Sept 27. If your child usually attends Kids Place we will assume that your child will be coming to Kids' Place at 1:50 on Friday. Terri will adjust the registration at the Central office.

Please confirm with Becky and Lisa whether your child will be coming to Kids' Place at 12:55 on Friday Sept 27. Also you need to make sure your child's PSI teacher knows that they are supposed to come to Kids' Place. PSI will not release your child to us unless you have told them to do so.

Early Release Day Friday Sept 27

Our first early release day is Friday Sept 27th. School will get out at 1:50. Even if you normally come to Kids' Place in the afternoon you need to register separately for the 1:50-3:50 portion of the day. Click on the link in the up right side of our blog to take you to your kids' place registration or log into https://slp.thatscommunityed.com/account/sign/in. If you go to the dashboard and click on your child's contact you can see if you have already signed up. If you are not signed up scroll to the bottom and click the button that says "non-school days". The find the line that says "PSI Early Release days"
